As far as your issue with height of the stick or whatever not being comfortable, most people I know just play with it on their lap. I still have to use a Saturn pad though when playing MvC2 though, simply because it doesn't have shortcuts, and a button style controller like this requires shortcuts in the game to function properly.
The inputs are technically "faster", but it's awkward as hell to do with buttons.
Only downside is that using 360 motion characters sucks so hard compared to using a stick.
